How does tutoring work and do I need special equipment?

All you need is access to a laptop or computer, speedy internet, audio, and a webcam to use our web-accessed whiteboard called Miro. If you would like to use an Apple iOS device (iPad), we will email you how to download and set-up Miro for iPad.

Is online tutoring better than in-person tutoring?

In most cases, online tutoring is even better! In addition to personalised content including interactive activities with drawing and typing capabilities on an online whiteboard, learning can happen anywhere and anytime that suits your schedule.

Do you offer 1-to-1 tutoring and group session?

We are currently offering 1-to-1 tutoring sessions and group sessions.

How much does tutoring cost?

Our costs vary depending on how many lessons your child has per week. Check our pricing here.

Does Neighbourhood Teacher have qualified primary school teachers?

All tutors on Neighbourhood Teacher are qualified primary school teachers. We don’t have VCE or university students.

Will I receive information on who my tutor will be?

Information on your Neighbourhood Teacher can be found on our About page.

Will I get the same tutor for every session?

We aim to book you with the same tutor for every session to ensure learning does not become disturbed. We don’t have temporary university students seeking for short-term tutoring work, so you don’t need to worry about having multiple tutors.

Do I need to sign a long-term contract?

No, we don’t lock you into a contract.

Can I book a trial lesson?

Of course! We are offering a free 30 minute trial lesson to begin with.

Can I pause my tutoring sessions during the school holidays?

Yes, you can pause and resume at any time. Just let your Neighbourhood Teacher know in advance if you choose to do so.

Does the tutoring content align with what my child is learning at school?

All learning programs and content are aligned to the Australian National Curriculum that is used to teach in Australian primary schools. What your child learns with Neighbourhood Teacher, will also be taught at their school and current year level.
